Designed by the award-winning Technē Architects, Tonka blends the raw energy of Flinders Lane’s graffiti with sweeping views of the Yarra River and Birrarung Marr.
Enter through a hidden doorway into the Thali Bar for cocktails and tandoor plates in a relaxed setting. Journey through a corridor of spices before arriving in the open-plan dining room, where Naomi Troski’s ethereal ceiling installation Drift invites the eye to wander with its flowing, light-responsive form.
Tonka’s Indian Compass, Melbourne Food & Wine Festival 2026
On 25 March, Tonka invites you on a journey through India’s four corners: Ladakh, Kerala, Arunachal Pradesh and Gujarat. This special event showcases regional dishes and the stories behind them with Tonka’s contemporary approach.
Your evening begins with a signature welcome drink on arrival, followed by a guided exploration of flavours from each region. The experience concludes with a Holi-inspired colourful dessert and a one-night-only menu created by our chefs.
Date Night or No Date Night | Valentine’s Day at Tonka
Date night or no date night, we’ve created an exclusive Valentine’s menu designed for pure enjoyment. Tonka is a stunning spot for romance, but we wouldn’t blame you if you came just for the food.
The experience begins with delicate tuna crudo layered with masor tenga and crisp potato, followed by bhutte ka kees with betel leaf and lehsun chutney. From there, enjoy tandoori prawn with pickled peach salad, alongside chargrilled broccolini with cauliflower purée and chilli jam.
The centrepiece is our fragrant Mangalorean duck curry, served with date and walnut chutney, India Gate basmati rice, and blue cheese & black pepper naan, made for sharing and lingering over.
To finish, a frozen chocolate mousse with spiced blackberry brings the night to a sweet close. Add a special cocktail or a glass of bubbles, and you’ve got a festive evening worth remembering.

2-Night Collab with Firangi Superstar Singapore Tonka x MGC | Limited Cocktail Series for the 2026 Tennis Season
Tonka has teamed up with Melbourne Gin Company in January 2026 to serve a limited-edition lineup of tennis-inspired cocktails. Launching Monday 12th, these refreshing creations feature house-made ingredients, premium MGC gins, and a vibrant non-alcoholic option for those who want all the flavour without the buzz.

WINEMAKER LUNCHES
Tonka celebrates wine and the people behind it through a series of special lunches that spotlight local winemakers. Each event features a guest winemaker who shares their story and pours their wines, while our chefs curate a menu designed to complement the unique notes of each drop.

We recently celebrated the exceptional wines of Wilimee Winery alongside a special menu crafted just for the occasion. Guests enjoyed a guided tasting of nine unique wines — including their remarkable underwater-aged Pinot Noir.

On July 13th, we celebrated the exceptional wines of Pooley at Babo with a specially designed menu to match the wines. Led by our head sommelier Gemma Neil and winemaker Justin Bubb-who set out to create contemporary wine styles that resonate with Australian palates-guests enjoyed a guided tasting of nine distinctive wines and a wonderful lunch.
VOYAGER ESTATE WINEMAKER’S LUNCH
We welcomed Voyager Estate to Tonka on 28th of August for an intimate winemaker’s lunch, a rare opportunity to taste the essence of Margaret River right in the heart of the city.
Guests enjoyed a thoughtfully curated menu paired with Voyager’s renowned Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon, each wine crafted exclusively from 100% Estate-grown fruit.
